A mostly easy bike ride, twice a month

An opportunity to keep fit, meet new folk and ride with confidence around our beautiful countryside. Dust off your bike or invest in one (old or new, electric or pedal powered) and join us. We ride safely as groups of 5 or 6 riders on quiet roads and good tracks with a stop (optional coffee and cake!).
The cycle group rides mostly every fortnight (1st and 3rd Friday) commencing around 10am or 2 pm. We may vary am or pm to fit in with other u3a activities so members have a choice. Dates, routes and times will be announced via a WhatsApp group. You may use the group contact email below to join or suggest a route.
In 2026 we are doing gentle routes around 15 - 20 miles from Melbourn visiting local villages and stopping for refreshments at cafes/coffee shops. In bad weather it's the cafe.
Where we cycle
We encourage ourselves to lead routes for the group so this page shows some rides we've tried and might do again. Everything is open to adjustment should you wish to avoid eg some road or some bumpy path or do something different. It is recommended to adjust the route for the weather conditions as well as questionable rights of way. Because cyclists traditionally expect a tea/coffee/cake stop we've listed some places below.
