Melbourn and District u3a

Our speaker was Andrew Birks, a local vicar who’d previously worked in the police force. His title is “Police to Priest”.

“I talk about growing up in North Northumberland and how the church became part of my life. Initially rejecting the sense that God was calling me to the church, I moved into retail and then realised that God was actually calling me, but I needed some life experience, so I joined the police, before eventually heading back to the church and becoming a priest! It’s basically a talk about my life journey which is quite unusual as I’m so young (!) but there’s a lot to tell!”.
