Melbourn and District u3a

Zoom online meeting

A zoom meeting link is circulated by email to everyone ahead of the event or meeting - usually this goes out a day or two beforehand. If you don't have this on the morning of the event, phone the meeting organiser.

Video meetings have transformed our world. They might not be everyone's favourite thing but sometimes, meeting on 'zoom' has been the only way to meet. Experience has taught us that some meetings are just the right size to engage people. And sometimes wearing a headset makes a difference to whether you can hear the speaker well.

Here at Melbourn & District u3a we meet in person, on zoom or both at the same time. We have a pre-paid 'zoom' licence which is set up for u3a groups to use for any meeting. Contact a committee member to receive the zoom link - we give you full control of the event - and please ask if you would like one of us to help host the 'zoom' to get things started for your group. Here is the page to ask.

There are other video meeting tools to prefer and these include whatsapp; facetime; teams and Google meet.

The national u3a organisation, aka the Third Age Trust, offers a programme of talks led by keynote speakers and these are mostly offered using zoom or similar. The u3a annual national conference, which previously required travel to attend, is now broadcast to everyone in addition to the live conference.
